KSU Mawlai unit bs 4 drug peddlers

SHILLONG, April 12: The mece of drugs in Shillong is rampant as members of the Khasi Student Union (KSU) just days after catching drug peddlers at Student Fields Jaiaw on Thursday,  the Mawlai Unit of the KSU apprehended four alleged drug peddlers, including a buyer from Mawlai Mawroh.

The KSU Mawlai unit after receiving proper informing laid a trap and waited for the peddlers to arrive and on their arrival the union members apprehended them at around 10.30am in the morning and later called the police.

The four persons have been identified as Regal Jyrwa (27) from Mawlai Nong Pathaw, Manbor Pariong (27) from Diengiong, Iaborlang Laitmon (23) from Mawlai Kynton Masar and Iohthrang Syiem (20) from Mawlai Mawroh.

Later, the police seized around 0.57 grams of heroine from their possession, eight thousand rupees in cash and confiscated the local taxi bearing the registration No ML05 K 8126, in which they were travelling.

The four accused were apprehended by KSU members in the presence of traditiol heads of Mawlai Mawroh.

Speaking to The Sentinel after appending the drug dealers, Eddie Malniang president KSU Mawlai Mawroh unit said, “The mece of drugs has rapidly increase in  and around the city; we have created various awareness programmes on the danger of drug use but this mece has plagued our society.” The KSU leader also issued a stern warning to others who are indulging in peddling or are drug users to be wary as stern punishment will be meted out to them if found indulging in such illegal activities within the boundaries of  Mawlai Mawroh. The four accused were later handed over to the police for interrogation.
