HOWRAGHAT, Oct 13: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang officially declared Langhin Bazaar as a new town in presence of HAD Minister Kharsing Engti, local MAC and EM i/c Town and Country Planning, KAAC, Dhaneswar Engti, Joint Secretary, KAAC, Tarun Engti, ARO, Phuloni Revenue Circle, Dr Premanda Mushary and many other distinguished persons of Langhi locality. With this, the number of towns in Karbi Anglong has now increased to eight.
Addressing the open meeting organized on the occasion, Tuliram Ronghang thanked HAD Minister Kharsing for helping in making Langhin Bazaar a new town. Meanwhile, Ronghang assured to help speed up development of the urban areas in Karbi Anglong, including the newly declared Langhin town. Ronghang exhorted people to support Congress in order to implement the government schemes effectively.
On the newly-formed regiol political party United People's Front (UPF) headed by Dr Jayanta Rongpi and BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, the KAAC CEM urged public to stay away from the party.
Kharsing Engti asked the KAAC to improve the deplorable condition of roads and bridges immediately. Engti said that the government had been formulating various urban development schemes.
On the other hand, expressing grief over the role of local MLA Bidya Sing Engleng, the local MAC and EM, i/c Town and Country Planning, KAAC Sarat Brahma alleged him of depriving the people of Diphu constituency.
To run the newly-declared Langhin town, an adhoc committee was formed with Haiensa Brahma and Robin Baruah as chairman and vice-chairman respectively. Gabinda Basumatary, Jad Basumatary, Dilip Shil, Tuleswar rjary and Kamala Basumatary have been inducted into the committee as members.
