SILCHAR, January 9: The Mega Block of Lumding–Silchar gauge conversion work which began from 1st October,2014 for a period of six months is progressing on warfooting manner. Track linking of BG line is progressing satisfactorily at various locations of Lumding–Silchar route. Linking of track is completed at Tunnel No. 7. Heading & benching work of tunnel 10 near New Haflong station is also completed and lining work is in progress. So far 39 ballast rakes have been unloaded up to Phiding. All station yard related works have also been completed up to Phiding. And it is planned to roll the first BG engine on 12.1.2015 up to New Haflong Station at a distance of 98 Km from Lumding. Moreover, the Gauge Conversion work from Silchar end is also progressing satisfactorily.
