Maheshwari sworn-in as Meghalaya HC chief justice

SHILLONG, Feb 24: Justice Dinesh Maheshwari of Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court was on Wednesday sworn-in as the chief justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

Governor V. Shanmugathan administered the oath of office to Chief Justice Maheshwari at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, ministers, judges, legal and civil officials were present on the occasion.

Chief Justice Maheshwari, 57, succeeds Justice Uma th Singh who retired as chief justice on January 14. Since then, Justice Sudip Ranjan Singh served as the acting chief justice of the state high court.

Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya. Governor V Shangmugathan administered the oath to the new Chief Justice at the Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. Born on May 15, 1958 and Justice Maheshwari graduated in Law from Jodhpur University in 1980.
