SIVASAGAR, August 21: CPI’s Sivasagar District committee has demanded the Government of India to make public the full text of the peace accord signed with NSCN-IM on August 3.
Activists of CPI’s Sivasagar district committee led by its secretary Kak Gogoi staged a one-hour sit-in protest demonstration in front of office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar on Thursday.
After the protest demonstration, a four-chartered memorandum, addressed to the Prime Minister of India, was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner. The memorandum demanded the central government to make the peace pact public, to keep the constitutiol boundary of Assam intact, to solve the Assam-galand border dispute permanently and to refrain the central government from taking anti-Assam decisions.
It may be mentioned that incidents like extortion and taxation by ga miscreants from small tea growers along Assam-galand bordering areas at Halwating, Borshilla in Sivasagar district, have been reported after the peace accord is signed.
CPI also opposed the demand of the insurgent group of the galand which had been fighting for galim that includes areas of Manipur and Aruchal Pradesh, besides Assam.
