Mountaineer Doelyn Kharbhih felicitated

SHILLONG, June 16: Meghalaya girl Doelyn Kharbhih was today felicitated by the Directorate of the tiol Cadet Corps (NCC) for conquering Mount Everest on May 22. Doelyn Kharbhih who is presently working as Girls cadet Instructor (CGI) in Silchar, Assam is a resident of Ri-Bhoi district. On her arrival in Nonsder, she was accorded a rousing welcome by the public on Wednesday evening. Talking to The Sentinel, she said, “It was an unbelievable experience. The climate was very cold and harsh. But my training in NCC and what I learnt during the earlier mountaineering expeditions really helped me to keep going”. During the felicitation programme, Brigadier V K Tiwari ,the Deputy Director General of the NER said, “She has made us all proud by scaling the world’s highest peak Mt Everest. Kharbhih is the second woman from the State to scale the Mount Everest.”
