NCST seeks judicial probe for Tawang firing

Itagar, June 17: The tiol Commission for Schedule Tribes (NCST) has written to Aruchal Pradesh Chief Secretary to initiate judicial inquiry into the Tawang firing incident which claimed two lives on May 2 last. In a letter seeking action against those responsible for violation of rights of Schedule Tribes in Tawang, the Commission further said that cases may also be investigated by the CID instead of the district police.

It further said that pending fil outcome of the judiciary inquiry, compensation and job to the next of the kin and the deceased and injured may be given. While the government has already given monetary compensation and a magisterial inquiry tabled following which seven police personnel have been suspended, numerous organizations have been demanding for transfer of the case to CBI for a fair probe. The government is yet to comment on the demands.
