Itagar, Jan 11: “Aruchal Pradesh literature is fast expanding as reflected by the upcoming and known poets and writers,” said chief secretary Ramesh Negi while addressing members of the Aruchal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) in a function at Banquet Hall here yesterday.
Taking note of the high level of literature in the state, Negi lauded the endeavours of the APLS led by its president, Sahitya Akademi awardee Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi.
Upcoming and noted poets, writers, artists, social activists and senior bureaucrats who had gathered at the banquet hall at the invitation of the CS, made the evening a multilingual event.
Bureaucrats BM Mishra, Indra Mallo, Dani Salu and Rajiv Takuk, poet-author Mamang Dai, social activist Jarjum Ete, Assamese author Ajanta, newcomer Nomi Maga Gumro, jourlist Pradeep Kumar and writer RN Koley were among those who attended the event, which also featured recitations and readings by Thongchi and poets Yamu Binny and Yumlam Ta.
Earlier, APLS general secretary Batim Pertin highlighted the aims, objectives, activities and achievement of the APLS since its formation in December 2006. The last event was a multilingual recitation involving poets from Assam.
The melodious voices of singer Bengia Hemata and Krish Bania, supported by guitarist S Kri, added flavour to the evening.
