MANGALDAI, Nov 21: The Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce (MCC), which had celebrated its glorious golden jubilee last year, is going to be headed by an eminent businessman.
Social activist Pradip Kumar Das is now the new MCC president. The post of the president of this apex organization of all the businessmen of Mangaldai was lying vacant since last year following the brutal killing of its president-cum-lawyer Binoy Kumar Ghosh last year. In the annual general meeting of MCC held in the office building on Saturday, Pradip Kumar Das was unimously elected as the president and eminent industrialist Mukul Chandra Deka of SRD Group of Industries as the new secretary.
The meeting also nomited Biren Barua, Chandmal Agarwalla, Ramesh Ghosh and Kailash Patowari as the vice-presidents and Anda Saha and Kiriti Bora as the assistant secretaries. Twenty-four businessmen have been nomited as the Executive Committee members.
Talking to The Sentinel, the evening newly-elected president of MCC, Pradip Kumar Das said that the MCC would take up all initiatives to make it a well-organized platform for all traders and businessmen of the district with enrollment of all the traders of Mangaldai. The MCC would also take up initiative for providing drinking water facility for the common people in the heart of Mangaldai town soon, he added.
