Harendra rayan Deb Goswami
GUWAHATI, March 15: Harendra rayan Deb Goswami, retired Asst. General Mager of the Reserve Bank of India, left for his hevenly abode on March 6 at the age of 86. Goswami’s demise was preceded by the death of his wife, Niva Goswami, less than three months ago.
Goswami was an accomplished economist. He was instrumental in intensive inspection and streamlining activities at several commercial and rural banks across the Northeast. He was also associated with BARD. Driven by job requirements, he travelled extensively and interacted with the general public to understand their grievances, which were thereafter suitably addressed.
Goswami was the adviser of the Reserve Bank Retired Employees’ Association, a position in which he served for over 25 years. He ensured appropriate representation of the issues pertaining to the Association before the Bank authorities. He endeavoured to secure the welfare of every member of the Association and their families.
Goswami possessed the unique virtue of eterl benevolence and perpetual forgiveness. To him, each individual was a gifted soul of the Lord. He was loved and respected by one and all. He leaves behind two sons and a daughter besides a host of relatives.
