Baghdad, Sept 19: Iraqi forces on Tuesday started a new military offensive to recapture two areas in Anbar province from the Islamic State (IS) terror group, a military officer said. The towns of Rayha and Ah located near the Syrian border, were seized by the IS in 2014, reports Efe news. The operation comes three days after the Iraqi forces liberated the western town of Akashat, a strategic area rich in minerals, including phosphates. The IS still controls the western areas of Anbar.
