One arrested for practising child labour

Dibrugarh, April 26: Dipjyoti Gohain, a resident of Udaipur, Chowkidinghee, was arrested on Wednesday for practising child labour, for he employed a 9-year old girl child as his domestic help. Earlier, the child who originally belonged to Jagun, Tinsukia, was rescued from Gohain’s residence on April 22 after the district administration launched a rescue campaign in collaboration with Childline, Labour Department and police. Later, a complaint was filed by the Labour Department at the Milannagar Police Station under Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, following which the arrest was made.
