SHILLONG, Jan 23: The president of the newly formed regiol party the People Democratic Front (PDF) Ivanlum Marbaniang on Tuesday rubbished the claims made by KHM working president Adelbert Nongrum that other political parties in the State are ‘BJP parties’.
It may be reminded that in a meeting held at Mawhati constituency, on January 22, Nongrum had said that that only KHM and Congress worked alone whereas the rest of the parties are “BJP parties.”
Nongrum had also criticised the Chairman of People’s Democratic Front (PDF), PN Syiem who is also the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), for bringing in toothless laws under traditiol heads.
Speaking to The Sentinel, PDF leader Marbaniang said, “Our party is very new and we have not been associated with any alliance with other parties in the State ahead of the election nor are we associated with North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in which other parties in the state are associated with which also includes the BJP.”
He said the KHANM leader should have first study which political parties as associated with NEDA before making such claims that all political parties in the state are ‘BJP parties’.
On the allegations made by HSPDP president Ardent M Basiawmoit that the PDF is linked with the BJP, he said, “This is just a ploy before the election however the public must not be mislead as the PDF is neither linked with the BJP nor with any other political party in the state as we are going into polls alone.”
He also said till date the party has not received any invitation from NEDA to be part of the alliance in North East.
