People's contact programme launched

SHILLONG, Nov15: The Meghalaya police has initiated a “people’s contact programme” in militancy infested Garo Hills region to encourage citizens to actively participate against crimil activities. The first of such programme was held on Saturday at Pedaldoba area under Tikrikilla police station in West Garo Hills district. The programme was conducted by the staff of Tikrikilla police station. “This area is ULFA and other crimil gangs infested,” Inspector General of Police (Operation) GHP Raju said. Meanwhile, Raju also said that as a part of  the “people’s contact programme” in Garo Hills, all the officers in-charge and in-charges of police stations and outposts in the region, the Director General of Police Rajiv Mehta directed to engage the public in preventive policing for their active participation in crime prevention.
