Silchar, June 17: Dr Rajdeep Roy, an orthopaedic by profession, a rising star of BJP in this part of the region and the son of former MLA late Bimalangshu Roy, who was the prominent BJP leader, is happy, content and satisfied with the party’s move to discharge him from all important posts. Talking to The Sentinel in an exclusive interview, the doctor showed positivity and looked promising. “Some sections of people are very pessimistic in their outlook and always try to find negativity. Mere changing of posts and positions within a party does not imply that I have been ousted from it. I am above petty party politics. I want to serve my party as a true soldier. Serving as the member secretary of the State Committee of the party is satisfactory for me. It is not difficult to follow the path which was shown by my father and I will do it. Post, position and power should not define a person. His action, work, service and commitment do that,” said Dr Rajdeep Roy.
Dr Rajdeep Roy further said that BJP is a dymic process and not just a party and posts are non permanent. There are various roles to play within a party. “Lal Krish Advani was also assigned various tasks and thus he too had to change his post and position. It does not indicate that he was thrown out of the party. Such mentality should be changed for the betterment of the party in particular and society in general,” he added to say.  Dr Rajdeep Roy lost the 2011 elections and he was made the party spokesperson. In the year 2014, he was the party general secretary which he held for the next three years. “I have served as the State Returning Officer (SRO) during the elections. It is a coveted post which was also given to my father in 2001 and 2006. In 2011, the present PWD minister Parimal Suklabaidya was made the SRO. I am confident and can prove that I have been able to do justice to any roles that have been assigned to me from time to time. My aim is to perform duties with honesty, sincerity and seriousness. I am still in the state core committee which has been formed in every state by the Union core committee under the aegis of BJP president Amit Shah,” added Dr Rajdeep Roy.
“People are now craving for a BJP MP. I can sense that and feel their pulse. Of late, I have been visiting rural areas also. I was given the charge of the seven constituencies of Barak Valley. Out of 16 seats, BJP won nine of them. In politics, 60 to 70% success is excellent. We are hopeful that BJP is going to form government once again in the 2019 general elections. The party is continuing to strengthen its foothold. We had Kabindra Purkayastha as our MP. Lakhipur is the only constituency in which the MLA is from the Congress. However, there is a silver lining in every cloud. The presidents of block mandals are from BJP, which is satisfying, and they have been doing excellent in their own right. Therefore, there is a high possibility that BJP will capture that constituency too,” said Dr Rajdeep Roy.
