SHILLONG, Sept 18: The Monitoring-cum-Implementation Committee (MCIC) organized a pre Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja get-together “Harmony 2017” here on Sunday. The programme was attended by various puja committees, church committees, members of Dorbar Shnong and NGOs under 19th South Shillong constituency and held at the Community Hall of the Raid Laban Sports, Social & Cultural Organisation, Kench’s Trace, here. It was also attended by a large number of people comprising all communities.
A prayer service was also conducted by pandit (priest) M Chakraborty for celebrating the pujas in peace, harmony and joy.
The function was addressed by Central Puja Committee, Shillong president ba Bhattacharjee and general secretary JL Das. This was followed by cutting of a puja cake by local MLA-cum-president of the Committee, Sanbor Shullai, Bhattacharjee and Das.
Distribution and handing over of fincial support, including puja materials to various puja committees, followed.
Vote of thanks was offered by Pankaj Dey, secretary of the MCIC Pre-Puja Celebration Committee.
