Prithiram school gears up to celebrate 150 years of founding

Goalpara, October 23: The historical Prithiram Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School, situated at the foot of the beautiful Hulukanda hill, will celebrate 150 years of its establishment in 2017. To commemorate the occasion, large-scale preparations are underway at the school.

On Sunday, hundreds of alumni sat for a discussion at the school premise and decided to form a prelimiry convener committee with the Principal of the school as the chief convener. The meeting also decided to create a website to connect with the alumni all over the world and receive their suggestions and advise. 

Popular local artist and anchor, Jayanta Medhi  said that short story writer and alumni of the school, Atanu Bhattacharya had already given consent to work as the editor of the proposed magazine to be published on the occasion.

This première Assamese medium school was established in the year 1868 and was recognized by the government in the year 1905. The convener committee has appealed to all the former students to contact the school for further information. 

Senior advocate Jiten Das, student leader Ratkar Das, columnist Dhiman Sinha, deputy secretary, Irrigation Department ,Shakil Masood Roni, Jayanta Medhi and many other academicians, businessman, senior citizens were present in the meeting on Sunday.
