Itagar, June 14: The Mere Vichaar Andolan Committee (MVAC) has reiterated its demand for resigtion of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chow Mein and Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Passang Dorjee So to ensure free and fair investigation into the alleged suicide of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul. It also said it would organise a peaceful sit-in dhar here on June 16.
MVAC spokesperson Kaling Tasing demanded a public apology from state BJP President Tapir Gao for branding the committee as ‘illegal’.
“Article 19 of the Indian Constitution gives every group the right to form a union or association across the country,” Tasing said.
“We are trying to refrain from indulging in politics but the BJP president is trying to giving our movement a political colour,” Kaling said.
The committee said neither the family members of Pul nor MVAC had filed any case in the court but a letter was written to Chief Justice of India seeking administrative approval for registering FIR against those persons mentioned in Pul’s 60-page suicide note. It alleged there was a third party under the influence of some political leaders that tried to file case in the high court, which was a bid to sabotage the democratic movement of the people.
Tasing said a situation had arisen during the recent rally at msai when some groups pelted stones on the protesters. Even the DC ordered the executive members of MVCA not to mention the me of Mein and other persons mentioned in the 60-page note during the rally.
The MVAC accused Mein of having maged the DC and a few msai-based organisations opposed to the committee.
The MVAC members said they had met So to discuss the Rs 4-crore that Pul allegedly paid him. So, they added, agree to return the amount if he loses the case in court.
