Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Divas observed

Golaghat, April 25: Panchayati Raj Divas was observed in all the gram panchayats of Golaghat district on Tuesday with multifarious activities, as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan being held from April 14 to May 5. Special gram sabhas were organized in all the gram panchayats to mark the occasion and important social issues such as immunization and health, women empowerment, etc., were discussed. Art and essay competitions were also held among school students on the occasion. Cleanliness drives and awareness rallies were also held to mark the day.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the gram sabhas was also broadcasted on radio and television for the people attending the meetings.  As part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, Under Secretary to the Ministry of Shipping Narender Kumar and Director, Ministry of Commerce Bhaskar Choradia were present in the district as central observers to assess the activities being implemented as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in Golaghat district. Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra, ADC Utpal Doley, Asst Commissioner and BDO were also present at the gram sabha at Dhekial GP under Golaghat Central Development Block, Kathaguri. 

LAKHIMPUR: Panchayati Raj Divas was observed in Lakhimpur district on Tuesday. In connection with this event, the 81 Gaon Panchayats under nine developmental blocks of the district organized special gram sabhas to discuss important social issues like immunization and health, women empowerment and social development. The district officers and employees of the departments concerned took part in the programmes with a view to ensure awareness among the rural people regarding the issues.
