Dibrugarh, April 21: Three-day Central Rongali Utsav would commence on Sunday at Chowkidinghee Field under the aegis of All Assam Students Union (AASU) with the cooperation of the public. The beginning of the function, which is looked forward to by many, has naturally gripped everyone in a layer of gaiety and excitement. The Bihu Sanmilan would witness a wide range of traditional programmes and events and would also be graced by a host of luminaries as well as dignitaries. In keeping with the grandeur of the function, the Best Husori group would be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the runner up group would take home a cash prize of 50,000 rupees. Likewise, the Best Bihuwati would be feted with a reward of Rs 50,000 while and the second best would be awarded Rs 25,000 along with a tangible symbol of appreciation. The open meeting, which is slated for the first day of the function, would be inaugurated by the former president of Axom Xahitya Sabha Nagen Saikia. The widely popular cultural evening has been slated for the last day of the event and would kick off at 8 pm. DC Laya Madduri and SP Gautam Borah are also expected to be present at the Bihu Sanmilan along with senior AASU leaders, including Dipankar Kumar Nath and Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya.
