Rs 12 crore for Dibrugarh stadiums

DIBRUGARH, Jan 24: A long cherish dream of the athletes and sports lovers of the  Dibrugarh has come to reality following Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare’s nod to sanction Rs 12 crore for upgradation and modernization of Jalan Outdoor Stadium as well as extension and upgradation of Indoor Stadium here respectively.

Moreover in addition to the above projects, the Dibrugarh would have one tiol Anti-doping Centre, the first ever in North East, The center would be set up either in Outdoor Stadium or Indoor stadium complex, Briefing media persons at Outdoor Stadium Complex on Jan 24, the vice-president of Dibrugarh District Sports Association, (DDSA), Dr Debajit Dutta, who pursue the matter along with other colleagues and  members of Dibrugarh Press Club, disclosed that the ministry had already been sanctioned Five crore rupees as a first installment .He further informed that meanwhile, DDSA secretary , Manindra th Saikia, had already dispatched documents of the land  like DDSA constitution, Bank statement of last three years, and other documents what the Union Sports Ministry  sought during telephonic conversation with the DDSA secretary.

Dr. Dutta further stated that the Union Minister of Sports and youth affairs Sarbanda Sonowal, had shown keen interest to the project and hoped that with his Ministry’s active initiation all three projects would be materialized within specific periods of 24 months.

“The sanctioned amount for outdoor stadium will be spent for the overall up gradation of stadium in general and construction of surrounding wall ,electrification , sitting arrangements, land filling and proper draige system in particular,” DDSA secretary, Manindra th Saikia.

Saikia expressed his gratitude to Union Minister Sonowal for sanctioning the project as well all DDSA members in general and hisVice Presidents, Dr Abhijit Dutta and Hridayanda Konwar in particular for helping to achieve the task.
