Scribes' bodies demand action against SP

SORI, April 5: Various jourlists’ bodies including Charaideo Press Guild, Assam Press Correspondents’ Union and AASU, AJYCP have strongly condemned the alleged attack on media persons by police at Sori on Sunday. The jourlists have set 24-hour deadline to take action against Charaideo SP Manish Mishra for allegedly assaulting three jourlists of satellite channels.

Sources said the three jourlists—Arup Dihingia, Raju Singha and Mridul Borgohain—were physically assaulted by a team of police led by Charaideo SP Mishra—when they were returning to Sori from Suffrai after collecting news.

The members of AASU, AJYCP gheraoed Sori Police station and protested for physically assaulted the mediapersons. The victims also filed an FIR at Sori Police station against the Charadeo police chief.

The Charaideo Press Guild, Assam Press Correspondents’ Union and AASU organized a joint meeting which was presided over by Surjya Kumar Bora, president of Charaideo Press Guild here. The meeting condemned the incident and set 24-hour deadline to take action against the SP.
