Senior citizens' association holds biennial conference

Doomdooma, Nov 22: The second biennial conference of Doomdooma Senior Citizens Association (DSCA) was held at Doomdooma Girls’ High School on Wednesday with a day-long programme.

The programme began with unfurling of flag by president Dr Abdul Quadir and smriti tarpan by vice-president Bi Deka in the morning. The delegate session held in the afternoon with Dr Abdul Quadir in the chair elected a new executive  board for 2017-19 with Bi Deka as president, Dr Aru Gogoi Baruah, Arjun Baruah and Pradip Dutta as vice-presidents, and Giridhar nda as treasurer.

In the open session held thereafter under the presidentship of Dr Abdul Quadir, Dr P Meddhi delivered a lecture on ‘Social responsibility of the senior citizens’. The meeting felicitated six senior citizens. They are trade union leader Niren Baruah, retired Headmaster Prafulla Barkakati, Chenikantha Barpatra Gohain, Motiram Koiri, Larua Bhumij and Lachit Barua. The meeting was addressed by working president of Assam Senior Citizens Association, Mohan Buragohain, president of Tinsukia District Senior Citizens Association, Thaneswar Das and chairman of Doomdooma Town Committee, Dulu Arandhara.
