Silchar, Dec 10: On the occasion of 70th birthday of AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, Silchar Zila Congress distributed fruits and sweets among the orphans at Mother Teresa Orphage Home. Earlier, Karnendu Bhattacharjee, president, DCC, began cut cake at Indira Bhawan to mark the celebration. He also spoke about Sonia Gandhi’s contribution towards the overall development of the country. He also wished her a long and healthy life. The team of representatives of the Party, led by Rajesh Deb, general secretary, DCC, went for distribution of sweets and fruits at the orphage. Among others who active participated in the day’s programme included, general secretaries Sujon Dutta, K. Atong Singh, Sanjeev Roy, Mehboob Ahmed Birbhuiya, Mohanlal Das, Ruhul Amin Laskar, secretary, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, Papon Deb, secretary, Silchar Lok Sabha Yuva Congress, Rajdip Debroy, Akbar Laskar, Partha Sarathi Roy, Majud Laskar, and Raj Das.
