KOKRAJHAR, Dec 3: Along with the rest of the State, the Chirang district administration observed Asom Divas or Su-Ka-Pha Divas in the auditorium hall of Kajalgaon High School on Friday where Deputy Commissioner Binod Kumar Deka graced the occasion as chief guest.
Attending the programme, ADC Dasarath Das gave a short introductory speech where he highlighted the history of the Ahom kingdom and significance of observation of Asom Divas or Su-Ka-Phaa Divas. In his speech, the chief guest Binod Kumar Deka said that Su-Ka-Pha was not only a great hero of the Ahom kingdom but also a great ruler who was able to unite all communities, including tribal people, as he used to acknowledge and respect each group and their individual rights.
“Unity and integrity can be strengthened and achieved only when we come together,” Deka added. Subject teacher of Tukrajhar Higher Secondary School, Susanta rzary, while speaking on the occasion, spoke about the history of the Ahom kingdom and its founder king Su-Ka-Pha. The programme anchored by IS Jaypal Singh Brahma, was attended by SDO (S) Jayanta Sarkar, P&RD PD Santosh Brahma, PHE EE Rupeswar Brahma, BDO Arun Debth, DEEO Bhaben Deori, teachers and students of various schools and colleges.
