SIVASAGAR, August 29: The All Assam District Administration Employees’ Association has threatened to launch a series of agitation if their long-pending demands were not fulfilled soon.
In a press release, the association alleged that the government had not been paying any attention to their various demands. Frustrated with the government’s lackadaisical attitude, they would be forced to follow the path of agitation that might hamper administration.
The release also stated that a discussion regarding demands of the administration employees’ body, between office bearers of the association and Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu was held on February 6, wherein the latter assured to make an increase of Rs 300 in the grade pay of every employee working under the district administration authority. It was followed by another discussion with the Chief Secretary in presence of the Chief Minister and top officials of the fince department of the Assam Government on June 30. Besides, a separate meeting was also held with the Commissioner Secretary for effecting the assurance on ‘advance increment’. But all were in vain.
The association lamented that the government had not even cleared the incentives payable to those who offered service during the Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections till date. They also alleged that government, instead of dealing with the issues sincerely, was trying to escape from fulfilling promises which had made during the June 30 meeting.
The release stated that the association in its central steering committee meeting held at Sivasagar on August 26, decided to boycott work on September 9 and September 10 if the government failed to address their demands within September 8. They would launch the second phase of their agitation on September 28, September 29 and September 30 to press the government for implementing the demands of the association, stated the press release.
