Sivasagar DC takes classes at ME school

SIVASAGAR, May 8: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal visited Lakhimigar ME School, Lakhimigar LP School and the Anganbadi Kendra there recently.

Accompanied by DEEO, Sivasagar, Kulendra th Das and BEEO, Amguri, Debajyoti Gogoi, Mittal visited different classroom and took classes.

In class VIII, he took classes on English reading and Social Science; in class VII, Assamese reading and in class VI, Value Education. Perhaps it was for the first time that a deputy commissioner conducted classes at a school in the State. The objective was to know about level of the education of the students.

After a detailed inspection, Mittal held a discussion with the head master and other teaching staff on various issues such as ways to increase enrolment of students, steps to improve the overall academic environment and initiatives to motivate the learners.

He also requested the teachers to admit their children at Assamese medium government schools to encourage the community to learn their mother language. He also advised against punishing students.

After inspecting the well-equipped library and the teaching corners of the class rooms, he praised both the students and teachers of the school magement. On the other hand, locals also praised the deputy commissioner for taking such an initiative for the betterment of Assamese medium schools.
