Sonowal releases Assamese translated version of 'Autobiography of a Yogi'

GUWAHATI, Nov 19: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal released the Assamese translated version of the book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ at a function held at Vivekanda Kendra in Uzan Bazar on Sunday. The translated version titled Jogi Kathamrita aims at introducing the readers to the methods of attaining God-realization and to the spiritual thought of the East.

Speaking on the occasion chief minister Sonowal said, “Spiritualism is the edifice through which our entire civilisation revolves. Spiritualism is the way to get perfection in life. Though we live in the age of science and technology, spiritualism lends value to our life. It gives us essence of humanity”.

He also said that the translated version of the ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ would help in enriching the Assamese literature. Through this book many readers will get to know the life of Paramahansa Yoganda and his encounters with spiritual figures of both the East and West.

Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal presented the first copy of the translated version of the book to the former president of Axom Sahitya Sabha Lakshmi ndan Bora as a mark of respect to the litterateur.  Swami Suddhanda Giri and a host of dignitaries were present at the book release function.  This was stated in a press release.
