GUWAHATI, Oct 20: The 44th Assam State Inter District Weightlifting Championship 2016 (Junior & Senior), organized by Assam Weightlifting Association, concluded at BhogeswariPhukononi Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
The championship was iugurated by Vice President of Indian Weightlifting Federation Bhabajyoti Goswami. Souvenir iugurated by Director of Sports and Youth welfare Assam Pabitra Ram Khaund.
Altogether 250 participants participated from various district of Assam. Championship was held for Junior Men & Women and Senior Men & Women in following categories.
Men Weight Categories - 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg, 105kg and +105kg. Women Categories- 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg and +75kg.
Junior Men Lifter title went to Nitu Tamuli of Sivasagar. Saurav Gogoi of Sivasagar received the Senior Men Best Lifter award. In women section Junior Best Lifter was crowned by Borli Bora of Sivasagar and Senior Women Best lifter award went to Pompi Saikia of Dhansiri.
Sivasagar won the Men Best Team title while Dhansiri lifted the Women Best Team.
