Stolen money recovered

DULIAJAN, January 31: Cash amounting to Rs 7,98,944 which was allegedly stolen from the satellite office of Duliajan LICI on Friday night, was recovered on Saturday evening from the roof of the building.

On the basis of suspicion, Duliajan police had arrested a temporary employee, Mintu Baruah  (22), son of Bhaben Baruah  and resident of Gandhia Sasoni Village under harkatia police station for interrogation. He later confessed to stealing of money. On the basis of his confession, police recovered the stolen cash from the roof of the LICI building hidden in a wooden box. Mintu Baruah had joined service as temporary 4th grade employee six months ago. Police have registered a case against him (No. 35/16) under section 457/380 of IPC and on Sunday morning he was sent to Dibrugarh Jail.
