SIVASAGAR, May 28: The Sivasagar district administration has imposed a complete ban on sale of tobacco and tobacco products around educatiol institutions in the district.
Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal directed heads of educatiol institutions of the district to ensure forceful implementation of the directive to impose complete ban on sale of tobacco, cigarettes and other tobacco products near the educatiol institutions under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
A notification in this regard has also been issued and all heads of educatiol institutions have been especially asked to keep a close vigil near educatiol institutions to ensure complete ban on sale of single stick cigarettes and all kinds of tobacco products within 100 yards of the institutions.
The DC also directed the heads of all educatiol institutions to exhibit the harm of tobacco use in and outside their respective institutions through posters and banners to raise awareness about tobacco-related issues among students.
