GORESWAR, May 13: Strong sensation prevailed in and around the Gashbari area after repeated accidents on a PWD road. Local people alleged that the repair work of the Guwahati-Goreswar -Bagamati PWD road was undertaken by contractor Prabhu Agarwala in October, 2016. But instead of any improvement, the condition of the road has only worsened. As a result, frequent road accidents are taking place on this road from time to time. On Friday morning, a cement-laden truck (AS01EE0855) fell into a ditch at Gashbari under Baihata Chariali Police station. On the other hand, another truck (AS 21C 1263) had fallen into another ditch on May 10 at 8pm at Fanichowk near Gashbari. The drivers and handymen of these two trucks had a rrow escape. The people of Baksa and Kamrup (R) districts have urged the PWD minister of Assam to take urgent steps to complete the repair work of the PWD road.
