He said that the committee has revived no clarification from the Ministry of Road Transport and tiol Highway (MRTNH) regarding the objective of construction of the road from Nongstoin to Mawthabah. Speaking to newsmen after a meeting of the committee, Lyngdoh said, “The council doesn’t want to take decision on issuing NOC in a hurry since there are two parties one which supports the road project and one which is opposing it citing the objective of the road is to facilitate uranium mining.” The Chairman informed that the committee has sent a written letter to the Ministry on May 10 seeking a clarification on the objective of the two-lane road project. “We want to know from the Ministry if the road project is for development activities or to facilitate uranium mining,” he said adding that since the committee did not receive any reply from the Ministry they have sent another reminder to them however till date there has been no response.
