Bongaigaon, Dec 18: Chirang district police bbed two NDFB rebels with ammunition on Sunday. Sankarbrata Rai Medhi, Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that based on secret information about movement of NDFB(S) militants in Sishubari forest area under Mas Forest area under Amguri PS, a search operation was launched by Chirang Police on Sunday morning.
“During search, at about 1.30 pm, some suspicious movement was observed and the suspects were sighted and on being challenged, they attempted to flee. They were chased and police were able to apprehend them. One 7.62 mm SLR rifle, one magazine, six rounds live ammunitions and one no 36 HE hand grede were recovered from their possession. On spot questioning of the suspects, they revealed their identity as Khagen Basumtary alias B. Khaowrang,( 26), son of Dampla Basumatary, resident of Bitni village under Amguri PS of Chirang district and Ashok rzary alias N. Andw, (24) son of Prabin rzary, resident of Gobdapara village under Amguri PS of Chiranfg district. Both are 42nd batch Myanmar-trained cadres of NDFB (S) and were inducted into Chirang district few days back from Taka Camp, Myanmar,” he said.
