Two succumb to injuries following road accident

Goalpara, August 10: A road accident at Chaygaon on August 6 in which five members of a family from Goalpara received serious injuries, led to the death of two in the last two consecutive days. Nibedita Pathak Kalita, senior clerk of State Bank of India, Goalpara Bazar branch and her brother Dibyajyoti Pathak, a businessman from town, succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The road accident took place on August 6 while Tarun Kalita, deputy mager, SBI, Goalpara, his wife Nibedita Pathak Kalita, their daughters Dorothi Kalita (18) and Antara Kalita (14) and Dibyajyoti Pathak were travelling from Goalpara to Guwahati and their Maruti Zen car hit a divider at Chaygaon on NH-37. Except Dorothi, all of them were critically injured and immediately admitted to first raya Hridayala and then shifted to GNRC Hospital, Guwahati. On Wednesday, the bodies of the brother and sister were brought to the local Bhootth cremation ghat by a procession participated by hundreds of friends and followers. The mortal body of Nibedita Pathak Kalita was also taken to the SBI Bazar branch where employees paid their last tribute. Later, they were cremated. Meanwhile, condition of Tarun Kalita and his daughter Antara Kalita still remains critical.
