KALAIGAON, November 23: Around 1,000 activists of Udalguri Zila Nirman Sramik Santha staged a dhar on Monday in front of the Khairabari Development Office against the Assam Government for alleged delay in implementing the Labour Welfare Act in letter and spirit. The protesters alleged that the Tarun Gagoi government had assured to provide pension and medical treatment to families of labourers. But the government has allegedly not fulfilled its assurance. The Assam Government, alleged the protesters, has also not fulfilled its assurance of distributing bicycles to labourers.
