Varsity adopts children's park

Itagar, March 22: The Apex Professiol University (APU) in East Siang district under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) announced to undertake a two-point development agenda as a part of their community development mission on March 20 last.

APU announced that it will construct two fully equipped classrooms for the Gandhi Government Secondary School here which was damaged by during a fire accident on January 29. The varsity will also develop the present Komlighat Children Park as a recreation centre for citizens of the township.

APU chancellor D Singh made the announcement in a consultative meeting held at the school in presence of school faculties, former education minister Bosiram Siram, and Pasighat councillor Makpak Peyang on Friday. He also informed that education secretary R K Mishra had made an appeal to APU in this regard and hoped that the district administration and local councillor would extend all necessary help.

DC Nidhi Srivastava who had recently adopted the school as a mentor appreciated the efforts stating that all such measure in the interest of the society will prove to be a milestone. Peyang, who is taking care of the Komlighat Children Park, has expressed happiness and appealed to the people to keep the park clean and beautiful. It was the dream park of the then DC and present education secretary Mishra, he informed. “Without fincial and infrastructural support, I was working under several limitations to keep the park clean and beautiful but the upcoming development will fulfil the long pending demand of well-wishers of Pasighat”, said Peyang.

Meanwhile, APU administration director Dr KC Mishra informed that as a part of its social responsibilities, APU will organize an anti-drug and anti-alcohol campaign on April 6 next involving ABK Women Wing of East Siang.
