Youth parliament receives good response

Silchar, March 25: The block level ‘neigbourhood youth parliament’ under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), Government of India yesterday in TT Club’s indoor stadium in Udharbond. The youth parliament was organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Cachar in association with Table Tennis Club, Udharbond.

 Around 150 students participated from different parts of Udharbond block. The programme began with the welcome address by Saswati Deb, district youth coorditor, NYK, Cachar. She said that main objective of the programme was to create an institutiol platform right up to the village level, where the youth could articulate their views on various issues and draw the attention of the local administration to such issues  affecting their lives and to develop platform of youth clubs further in the shape of vibrant ‘neighborhood youth parliament’ so as to educate the youth club members about contemporary socio-economic development issues confronting local communities in general and the youth in particular and to involve them in debate and discussions on varied issues.

 The discussion and debate over three issues- Jan Dhan Yoja, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and skill development – were held in the youth parliament. R K Sinha of District Industry and Commerce, Rajarshi Bhattacharjee, assistant branch mager of SBI, Udharbond and Pradip Deb of PHE were the resource persons who threw light on the various aspects of the three select issues.  The president of the Table Tennis Club Surjya Kumar Sinha chaired the session.
