Doimukh: The Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee of Rajiv Gandhi University, with support from the Assam Students’ Forum and Assamese community at RGU, organized a vibrant celebration of Bihu, bringing together students, dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts to honour Assamese heritage. The day began with a cultural rally, followed by flag hoisting, an open Bihu performance and a drawing competition for school students. Distinguished guests including Nabam Vivek, MLA of Doimukh Constituency, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University and other notable figures graced the event. The launch of the Bihu website and the release of the annual Bihu magazine “Rongili Rono” were among the event’s highlights, showcasing the university’s dedication to preserving and promoting cultural traditions. The celebration reached its peak with mesmerizing cultural performances such as Borgeet, Satriya Nritya, and various Bihu dances performed by students, non-teaching staff, and invited groups. The performances reflected the vibrant spirit of Assamese culture and fostered a sense of unity and pride among attendees, stated a press release.
