ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday underscored the vital need to preserve cultural heritage while promoting inclusive development.
Speaking at the Poi-Lu-Chong cum Buddha Jayanti celebration at Nampong village in Namsai district, Mein said, “Education is the foundation of empowerment. Without it, society remains in darkness. Let us invest in our youth, value the voices of both women and men, and build a society where all can grow together.”
To mark the occasion, the deputy chief minister inaugurated the Lungchaseng Buddha Vihara, envisioned as a sanctuary for spiritual reflection, community harmony, and inner growth. A commemorative souvenir was also released to celebrate the day.
The celebrations, rich in spiritual and cultural significance, drew devotees and dignitaries from across the region, embodying the deep-rooted traditions of the Buddhist community.
Highlights of the day included the traditional Tang Thi Kongma procession, followed by devotional chanting, Dhamma discourses, and cultural performances, all echoing Lord Buddha’s timeless message of peace, unity, and compassion.
Notable attendees included Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, ministers Wangki Lowang and Biyuram Wahge and MLA Zingnu Namchoom, among others.
