Together with the rest of the country, Arunachal Pradesh celebrated National Doctors' Day with a lavish event in the state capital with the theme "Caring for Caretakers." Along with Health and Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge and Health Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai, Chief Minister Pema Khandu was the Chief Guest at the function. The Arunachal Pradesh Doctors' Association (APDA) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Arunachal Pradesh organized the festivities together at the Waii International Hotel in Itanagar.
During his speech, Chief Minister Pema Khandu conveyed his sincere gratitude for the state's physicians' unwavering commitment. Despite obstacles related to geography and infrastructure, he commended the medical community for providing outstanding care to the public. “As a token of our gratitude and commitment to strengthening healthcare in Arunachal, I am pleased to announce the establishment of a new medical college in West Kameng district,” CM Khandu declared, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
During the ceremony, retired physicians and healthcare non-governmental organizations were also honored for their significant services to society.
Speaking to the media, Health Minister Biyuram Wahge emphasized the sacrifices made by medical professionals, who frequently give up their personal and family time in order to provide compassionate and committed care to the public. He called on society to acknowledge and respect their dedication.
In honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a distinguished physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal who made important contributions to India's medical and political fields, National Doctors' Day is celebrated on July 1st of each year.
