ITANAGAR: The trailer of the documentary film “The Mythology of Dree Festival” was officially released on Thursday at Soochna Bhawan, in Naharlagun. The documentary was released by Information and Public Relations (IPR) director Gijum Tali, in the presence of capital complex dree festival committee (CCDFC) chairman Habung Tapa, secretary general Nani Polo, cultural secretary Mihin Kano, and other dignitaries.

Tali lauded the efforts of ‘The Greentoons’ production house and the film’s director, Radhe Tajung, for presenting the mythology of the Dree festival in a visually engaging format.

He emphasized that such visual storytelling plays a vital role in helping the younger generation understand and connect with the deeper meaning behind cultural traditions.

The IPR director added that visual media not only enhances understanding but also supports the continuity and preservation of indigenous cultural heritage.

Expressing his appreciation, CCDFC chairman Habung Tapa proposed that the full documentary be screened for three consecutive days during the capital complex Dree festival so that every attendee has the opportunity to view it.

Nani Polo thanked the department for supporting and producing a long-awaited film for the Apatani community. He further urged the department to continue producing such documentaries to preserve cultural identity for future generations.

District information and public relation officer (DIPRO) Dugyir A Padu also commended the initiative, noting that visual storytelling is increasingly essential, as younger generations often struggle to grasp orally shared mythology.

She cited similar challenges within her own community during festivals like Mopin and emphasized the importance of each tribe documenting their culture in accessible formats.
