Arunachal Frontier Highway: Survey process for construction of key roadway discussed

PALIN: A high-level meeting decided to speed up the process of taking up the survey work for the 'Arunachal Frontier Highway' project, at the DC conference hall here on Tuesday.

Chaired by MLA Jikke Tako, the meeting dwelt on matters concerning land acquisition and other aspects for the construction of the road from Huri to Taliha via Tali and Pipsorang by the BRO (Border Roads Organization). Among those present on the occasion were the DC of Kra-Daadi, ADC Tali, BRO Officer Commanding 85-RCC Koloriang.

Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, the MLA informed that the 'Arunachal Frontier Highway' project is a dream project of Minister of State (Independent charge) Youth Affairs & Sports Kiren Rijiju.

He added, "We will go ahead with the construction plan of Frontier Highways in the State. The highway connects the district of Kra-Daadi. Therefore, we discussed the ways on go about the work on this border road strategic for defence purposes and also ensure its early completion."

He pointed out that the highway covers three districts of the State — Kurung-Kumey, Kra-Daadi and Upper Subansiri, adding that a detailed discussion was carried out with the survey and investigation team of the Delhi-based company.

"The survey and investigation team will bring out a proper assessment of the road map to construct the road. Accordingly, a committee for acquiring the required land will be formed under the chairmanship of the ADC. The district administration and the state government will provide every possible help," he said.

Meanwhile, project details and the role of BRO were also highlighted by Design Engineer, CASTA Engg. Pvt. Ltd. (New Delhi) Ritesh Kumar and Officer Commanding, 85 RCC, Koloriang respectively during the meeting.

In 2014, China had expressed concern over India's plan to construct a frontier highway along with the McMohan line in Arunachal Pradesh. Reacting to that reaction of China, the then Union Minister of States for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju said that India has all right to create critical infrastructure in its area.
