ITANAGAR: Sensational disclosures emanated from Arunachal Pradesh as the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) suggested tough action against three government employees who were reportedly caught up in an extensive racket involving prostitution of minor girls.

The case was brought to light in August 2023 when the victims, with much courage, reported the abuse. The racket, which ran for a shocking four years from 2019 to 2024, involved the systematic exploitation of young girls.

Among the accused are Chaya Dulom, a health department employee and David Dulom, a water resources department surveyor. The couple, and others, enticed some young girls into their clutches, where they proceeded to rape them over many days.

The APSCPCR expressed great concern over the crime involved by government officials. In the report presented by the commission, it was stated that the victims were abused numerous times in a single day.

The role of policeman constable Hainu Naiham has also caught attention. It is believed that instead of protecting the girls, Naiham tortured them to cooperate with the absconding accused.

The commission has asked for a detailed investigation into the whole operation, with an assumption that high-profile persons must have covered up the offenders. A Special Investigation Team has been suggested to go ahead with the case and unveil the entire crime.

The APSCPCR has also demanded timely disbursement of compensation from the state's victim compensation scheme, so that justice can be served to the victims. Meanwhile, cases of adult victims are being referred to Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women for further action.
