ITANAGAR: In a major push for sustainable agriculture and rural development, horticulture awareness cum input distribution programme was successfully held on Monday at Duitongkhar circle in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, under the vibrant village programme (VVP).
The event, aimed at promoting organic horticulture practices, improving farm productivity, and supporting local livelihoods through the distribution of essential agricultural inputs to 48 farm families.
Organised under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), a centrally sponsored scheme, the initiative focused on equipping farmers with tools and knowledge to adopt environment-friendly farming.
The highlight of the programme was the ceremonial distribution of horticulture input kits, each comprising 12 varieties of hybrid vegetable seeds, liquid organic manure kits, organic pesticides and fungicides, bactericides, virucides, organic granular manure, and sprayers.
Duitongkhar circle officer Tsetan Droma, underlined the potential of horticulture as a sustainable livelihood source. She urged farmers to adopt crop varieties aligned with the region’s agro-climatic conditions and promoted the idea of group farming to improve collective market access and scheme benefits.
