Arunachal: K T Parnaik urges Ziro Festival organisers to preserve cultural roots

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Saturday urged Ziro Festival organisers to preserve its cultural authenticity, protect the environment and promote the state’s indigenous heritage.

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Saturday urged Ziro Festival organisers to preserve its cultural authenticity, protect the environment and promote the state’s indigenous heritage.

Parnaik made the remarks when Ziro Festival co-founders Bobby Hano and Anup Kutty called on him at Lok Bhavan and briefed him about the festival and its ‘Ziro On Tour – Valley Vibe, City Tribe’ initiative.

The Governor said traditional music, folk arts, local cuisine, handicrafts and indigenous knowledge should receive equal importance alongside contemporary music and international participation.

He also urged the organisers to use the festival to empower local youth and promote rural economic growth by creating opportunities in event management, hospitality, tourism and creative sectors. Hano and Kutty informed him about plans to take the festival to Hyderabad, Puducherry and Chandigarh.
