PASIGHAT: East Pasighat MLA Tapi Darang today flagged off an exposure tour to Kaziranga National Park, Assam, involving thirty Gaon Burahs and Gaon Buris (GBs) from the Bosing and Bogong group of villages.

The tour aims to educate participants on various aspects of wildlife conservation, rural and eco-tourism, safari experiences, and to facilitate interaction with community members actively engaged in conservation efforts at the renowned Kaziranga National Park.

The exposure tour is an initiative sponsored by MLA Darang as part of his efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices in the region.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Darang urged the GBs to take an active role in wildlife and environmental conservation. He appealed for their support in the successful implementation of the Air Gun Surrender Campaign and in curbing rampant wildlife hunting and preserving local flora. He expressed confidence that the exposure tour would inspire meaningful change and awareness among the communities.

Senior citizen Gagam Ering also spoke on the occasion, commending the MLA’s initiative. He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about eco-tourism and conservation for the benefit of future generations.

Wildlife DFO Kenpi Ete, while welcoming the move, highlighted that community-driven conservation efforts in Kaziranga—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—have been instrumental in preserving its rich biodiversity. He expressed hope that similar practices could be replicated in the region with the GBs’ involvement.
