Itanagar: Pongchau-Wakka lawmaker Honchun Ngandam Sunday urged the youth to stay away from drugs and instead contribute meaningfully to society.
Speaking at the Sampoornata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh, he praised the dedicated efforts of officers and field workers under the aspirational block programme and stressed the importance of utilising government interventions to drive positive change.
Ngandam also felicitated Phohee Wangsa, the CBSE class 12 state topper from Pongchau, with a Rs 50,000 cash award, encouraging others to follow her example. As part of the event, the MLA inaugurated the Akanksha Haat, showcasing local products crafted by Pongchau artisans under ArSRLM. He applauded the initiative for promoting local entrepreneurship.
Longding SP Dekio Gumja speaking on the occasion, emphasized the need to overcome negative mindsets and work collectively for development. He highlighted the strength of the region’s cultural heritage and traditional village administration and expressed optimism about improved security with upcoming border infrastructure projects.
Earlier, Kanubari additional deputy commissioner Yashwant Meena, in his keynote address, outlined the core objectives of the aspirational block programme and emphasized its potential for accelerating grassroots development.
