ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Physical Education & Sports Union (APE&SU) has served 10 days' ultimatum to the State Government demanding immediately holding of examination for 30 posts of Physical Education Teacher (PET), pending since 2018, with age relaxation, increase in the post vacancy and deletion of persons with disabilities (PwD) post reservation.
Following the failure to address the demands, the union will be organizing a protest rally from Akashdeep to the tennis court near here on April 25 next. Addressing the mediaperson at the press club here, APE&SU spokesperson Hemant Gamre said that the union on April 13 last had submitted a representation to the Education Secretary regarding the demands.
He also informed the union has served 7 days' ultimatum to the department of sports demanding immediate creation of Assistant Sports Officer (ASO) and District Sports Officer (DSO) posts. Claiming that the ASO and the DSO in charge of the district are performing as regular coaches, the union further demanded for the cancellation or revocation of ASO and DSO in charge from every district.
"Coaches performing as ASO/DSO are hampering the performance of athletes because they are busy handling the administration system instead of training the athletes. Therefore, the department should work on creating fresh posts for ASO/DSO," he added.
He also informed that the State Government had issued job advertisement for 30 posts of PET in the year 2018 after a series of memorandums and meetings, but two years after the notification, the State Government issued another notification stating that the examination for PET is cancelled due to administrative inconvenience.
