ITANAGAR: A capacity-building training program on biodiversity conservation and its impact on climate change was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh regional center of the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) in collaboration with NABARD at the BSI conference hall, Senkiview near here on Monday.
MLA Mohesh Chai, addressing the gathering, emphasized the urgent need to address the declining forest cover in the state and the critical importance of biodiversity conservation for future generations. He acknowledged the inevitable impact of urbanization on deforestation but stressed the need for innovative solutions to minimize environmental damage.
"Instead of merely complaining, we need to actively work towards sustainable development and minimize our environmental impact. We must all take responsibility for environmental protection," Chai stated.
He expressed concern over the rapid climate change observed in the state, particularly in Itanagar, urging individuals to adopt eco-friendly practices, such as reducing carbon emissions and promoting the use of renewable energy sources.
NABARD General Manager Damodar Mishra highlighted the global nature of the climate change challenge and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts from all sectors. He informed participants about NABARD's involvement in various initiatives aimed at water conservation, soil conservation, and other environmentally beneficial activities.
